Hendrick’s Hot Gin Punch – Featured Cocktail

Hendrick’s Hot Gin Punch

Every month I choose one classic and one contemporary cocktail to showcase. This month I’m focusing on Punch. Punch cocktails are classic by their very nature. Many Prohibition era cocktails were served in Punch style. For this reason, instead of choosing one classic and one contemporary, I am going to showcase one hot and one cold.

Hendricks Hot Gin Punch Pic small

Fall is here and what a better way to celebrate than a Hendrick’s Hot Gin Punch. I found this recipe on liquor.com while searching for a cocktail to serve at a family gathering. This punch did not disappoint! At the beginning, I didn’t let anyone know what was in the punch. After I received about 98% approval I let everyone know Hendrick’s Gin was the base. At least 50% of my family swore they did not like gin. I’m proud to say I made some gin lovers that day!

24 oz Hendrick’s Gin

24 oz Madeira wine

6 Lemon Twists

1 Orange Slice

3 Large Chunks Pineapple

3 oz Honey

1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice

3 Cloves

1 pinch Ground Nutmeg

1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

1 teaspoon Brown Sugar

Garnish with Orange Slices and Cloves

Add all the ingredients to a large saucepan and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes. To serve, pour the hot mixture into a punch bowl or teapot and garnish with orange slices studded with cloves. Pair with gingerbread
