Bourbon Bramble
Our craft cocktail feature for this month is a Bourbon Bramble. This is a riff off the classic Bramble cocktail. Or more accurately, it’s a marriage between a Whiskey Sour and the Bramble.
Much like a proper Whiskey Sour or Bramble, the key to making this cocktail shine is choosing a quality base spirit. I like using Woodford Reserve. Woodford Reserve shines through this cocktail with its bold rich toffee and spice notes. The Bourbon is countered by fresh lemon juice and sugar. It’s then finished with a float of black currant liqueur. Though this cocktail is bright and refreshing, the spicy bourbon notes make it enjoyable year round.
1 ½ oz Woodford Reserve
¾ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Black Currant Liqueur
Shake the bourbon, lemon juice and simple syrup with cracked ice and strain into a double rocks glass. Top with crushed ice and gently float the black currant liqueur on top. Garnish with fresh blackberries.
