Description

Looking for a career in the wine and spirits industries? Would you like to be able to sell one of the most diverse and well-established brand portfolios in the business? Don't want to be stuck behind a desk? Great Lakes Wine & Spirits is a growing statewide company seeking students for our 2024 Multi-Channel Sales Internship Program.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Sales Intern will complete a two-week role specific onboarding program and work in the market on assigned project before being assigned a list of accounts to pitch GLWAS brands to. At the end of the internship, the Sales Interns will present a 30-minute presentation on results from the assigned sales project to key leadership personnel.


After the Sales Intern completes the Street Training Program and has spent 2 consecutive weeks shadowing in the field, the intern will begin conducting sales presentations and host tasting events in assigned accounts. The focus is to drive brand awareness and increase placements of our seltzers and ready-to-drink cocktails. They will observe, record, and analyze steps to drive the Sales Presentations as outlined by our training.


The following standards will be the guidelines to measure execution:

  1. 4 Steps to a Sales Call or SIERRA method both are acceptable
  2. ABC Priorities
  3. RACC Method of Overcoming Objections
  4. Closing Techniques

The Sales Intern will be assigned 2 Sales Channels to observe, both with distinct skill sets, clients, and methodologies; however, the selling standards as outlined above, remain consistent. The intern will identify best practices and gaps for the various steps with details to provide insight to sales leadership. The goal is to identify the best actions to drive sales excellence. Finding should be focused what is successful, why, and how to improve any of these areas. It is expected that the intern will outreach to the Sales Director if any obstacles occurred in the field that would impact the ability to complete the project. It is also the responsibility of the intern to reach out to the Training Director if unclear or unable to access learning resources.


Pay & Work Schedule

The Multi-Channel Sales Program is an 8-10 week program scheduled between the months of May and July. Students will be working up to a full-time schedule Monday through Friday and will be compensated at a rate $18 per hour with a monthly gas reimbursement of $300 per month.


Work Environment & Physical Demands

The Sales Interns will be operating in the field with daily travel, driving in all weather conditions. Time is also spent in a professional office environment, using standard office equipment. Work environment will vary based on account stops.


Sales Consulting is also a very active position. The employee must frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop and climb throughout the day while lifting, stacking, moving, and rotating with items, without handles, that weigh up to 50 pounds; push/pull carts with up to 100 pounds of force. This position is required to operate warehouse equipment and regularly to read, write and communicate in English. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 21 years by May 15, 2024
  • Currently enrolled a Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, or some other related field

Additional Requirements

  • Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee policy manual and any applicable contracts, signed agreements, and work rules.
  • Cooperates with all management and staff of GLWAS.
  • Follows all MLCC rules and regulations, as they apply to the position.
  • Use alcohol in a responsible manner when related to business activities.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings including a full Background Check, 10-Panel Drug Test, Physical Evaluation, and Agility Test
  • Maintain a safe driving record.
