Ernest Hemingway SpecialImmediately when thinking of classic rum cocktails the first name that comes to mind is Daiquiri. In the 1930s, among the many variations on the popular Daiquiri cocktail served at the Floridita was the E Hemingway Special. The Floridita’s recipes frequently called for the use of BACARDÍ rum. Because of this, we look to BACARDÍ Superior for its clean, floral and delicate notes.

Rumor has it, Hemingway loved Daiquiris but they often made him feel fatigued. This bartender recognized that and changes the recipe removing the sugar. Turned out, Hemingway was diabetic. As a result, the “E. Hemingway” Special quickly became his drink of choice and made its mark in cocktail history.
